Intensive Support & Supervision

In partnership with Ontario Youth Justice Services, the Intensive Support and Supervision Program (ISSP) is designed to specifically target young persons with serious mental health issues who would likely have been sentenced to custody but can be appropriately supported and supervised in the community.

The program is available to youth residing in Toronto who have identified mental health needs and who have been charged in Youth Justice Courts, age 12-17 years inclusive at the time of their offense. Referrals are made by Probation Services.

As an alternative to a custody program the goal is to enhance individual community safety and to provide effective rehabilitation services. Individualized plans are developed with the client, family, an ISSP therapist and psychiatrist. Services include educational/vocational support, life skills and independent living supports, social and recreation support including mentoring, family support and self-help, and service coordination and advocacy.
